Event Description

I am excited to share with you about “Junior Girls Day Out” Community Project which was launched November 23, 2007 in Charleston, SC. We are delighted as we embark upon a new school year in providing excellence in education, career, and personal development programs for elementary school girls. Our program’s aim is to broaden the horizon of young girls and help make them well rounded individuals through their exposure and participation in a variety of enriching programs and activities. This worthwhile program provides youth development activities, mentoring sessions, community service projects, field trips, fun outings, interaction with other girls and more. We hope through these positive outlets that young girls will be inspired and encouraged to fulfill great achievements in their lives, and be deterred from pursuing paths of drugs, violence, and other detrimental vices. Our organization is recognized and legally registered with the State of South Carolina as a non-profit organization. All of our program activities, meals, and transportation are absolutely free to all girls. Our projected events and activities for 2009-2010 are as follows:

We are in need of your assistance in identifying volunteers who have a passion and heart for girls, and those who are motivated, excited and interested in working with our type of program. Volunteer support is needed in the following areas: Program Coordinators, Mentoring, Transportation, Special Events Coordinators, Monthly Multi-School Outings, and Fundraising. We have scheduled our first Volunteer Meeting for Saturday, October 17, 2009, 5:00pm at the Charleston County Library downtown (Calhoun Street).

Thus far this school year, we will provide program services for girls at Charleston Progressive Academy, James Simmons Elementary School, Memminger Elementary School, Mitchell Elementary School and Sanders Clyde Elementary School.

Commencing October 23rd, we will conduct one (1) monthly Multi-School Outing which will afford girls from all participating schools to share in a diversity of interesting and exciting learning experiences. Additionally, we will conduct two (2) sessions of activities per month at their schools during our “Junior Girls Day Out” Club Meetings.

We would tremendously appreciate whatever assistance you could provide for us. Your support and participation would have an immeasurable impact on the success of our worthwhile program! “Junior Girls Day Out” Community Project is a wonderful learning and developmental program for building character, self-esteem, and education in the lives of many aspiring young girls.

You may contact me at 864-3399 or email me at JGDO2007@yahoo.com for additional information. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have an awesome day!

Sincerely,

Kathy L. Jackson
